Module Aims
Explore the strategic role of Human Resource Management within sport organisations by examining external, contextual, and institutional factors that influence HR practices across national and international settings.
Develop critical perspectives and analytical skills to evaluate and respond to organisational challenges, using appropriate sport and business tools to propose innovative and sustainable HR solutions.
Promote inclusive and responsible management practices by encouraging students to challenge institutional norms, particularly in the areas of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and to lead change within the global sport industry.
Content Summary
The HRM in Sport module gives you a critical understanding of how people are managed within sport organisations and businesses. You’ll explore key concepts such as leadership theories, organisational structures and cultures, and team dynamics, gaining insight into how these influence performance and strategic decision-making. You’ll also examine the roles of power, politics, and influence in shaping workplace environments and develop practical skills in conflict resolution, decision-making, and problem-solving.
Through topics like recruitment, retention, and talent development, you’ll discover how effective human resource strategies contribute to sustainable and socially responsible sport management.
