Module Aims

  • Introduce key principles and practices in financial management and data analytics within sport organisations, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance evaluation.  

  • Develop practical skills in interpreting financial statements, using analytical tools, and visualising data to support evidence-based decision-making in sport business contexts.  

  • Encourage ethical, strategic, and inclusive approaches to financial planning and analysis that reflect professional standards and promote sustainability in sport. 

Content Summary

This Level 5 module develops your ability to understand and apply financial and analytical principles within the sport industry. Building on the foundational knowledge gained in Level 4, you will explore how sport organisations plan, manage, and evaluate financial performance to ensure sustainability and growth. The module introduces key concepts such as budgeting, interpreting financial statements, and assessing revenue streams, alongside advanced analytical techniques including performance metrics, forecasting, and predictive modelling. 

Through real-world case studies and practical exercises, you will learn to use data visualisation tools and financial systems to generate actionable insights. Emphasis is placed on ethical and strategic decision-making, enabling you to evaluate financial health and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. By the end of the module, you will be equipped with the skills to analyse complex financial data, support evidence-based decisions, and contribute to the strategic management of sport organisations in a dynamic global environment.
