Module Aims
To apply and reflect on transferable professional skills within a real-world work environment.
To analyse and apply sector-specific knowledge and practices to professional tasks and challenges.
To evaluate the development of professional identity and graduate attributes to enhance employability.
Content Summary
The module provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience during their sandwich year.
Before starting the placement, students participate in introductory workshops, focused on teamwork, communication, and professional personality profiling through challenge-based scenarios. Throughout the placement, students receive academic supervision to ensure their experience is reflective, professionally enriching, and academically relevant, bridging the gap between their studies and the professional working environment.
Placements must meet one of two key criteria: alignment with the student’s academic discipline or the development of graduate attributes. Students are required to comply with relevant University policies and guidelines, while also adhering to the host organisation’s policies. Sandwich placement roles are advertised on the University’s careers portal or may be self-sourced.
