Module Aims

The main aims of the module are: 

  • Develop students’ skills, abilities, and leadership to plan, manage, and deliver high-quality, ethical community work in line with professional standards and organisational policies. 

 

  • Enable critical exploration of systems, processes, and collaborative practices to enhance the quality and effectiveness of interprofessional and multi-agency work. 

  • Foster reflective, values-driven teamwork that recognises and integrates the contributions of communities, young people, and families in professional practice. 

Content Summary

This module is a powerful launchpad if you want to become a change-maker in your community. Discover how to inspire, lead, and deliver impactful community work that meets the highest standards and makes a real difference. You’ll work alongside expert tutors and like-minded students, developing practical leadership, safeguarding, and ethical skills in real-world settings, and gaining unique insights into how collaboration fuels success across organisations and agencies.  

Your learning journey will be hands-on and interactive, with opportunities to reflect, collaborate, and put your ideas into practice. You’ll grow as a professional, learning how to champion inclusive, anti-oppressive approaches and harness the power of teamwork to create positive change for children young people, families, and the wider community.

You are expected to complete 50 hours of practice learning for this module which is underpinned by the Social Pedagogy Standards and Charter (SPPA, 2022) and the PCS model (Thompson, 2021) of the structural and societal dimension.
