To improve understanding and knowledge of habitat ecology.
To develop an understanding of the threats and issues faced by species worldwide.
To develop an understanding of the methods and strategies used for the conservation of habitats and species in the UK.
Content Summary
Habitat Ecology: Classification of habitats; biomes and species.
Human Impact: Loss of habitat, invasive species, climate change and land use changes.
Conservation Techniques: Monitoring, intervention. Reintroduction of species.
Survey techniques (e.g. freshwater, phase one, UKHAB, mammal, bird etc.), UK legislation.
