Content Summary

This module will enable you to explore the contemporary issues shaping advanced clinical practice and the delivery of healthcare. You will examine how healthcare policy, professional regulation, technological innovation, population health, and emerging evidence influence the role of the advanced practitioner and the care provided to patients.

Throughout the module, you will explore a range of current and emerging topics, including professional accountability, digital healthcare, artificial intelligence, health inequalities, sustainability, ethical decision-making, and integrated models of care. You will consider how these issues affect clinical practice, healthcare organisations, and patient outcomes while developing the skills required to respond to an evolving healthcare landscape.

Learning will be centred around authentic clinical and professional challenges, encouraging you to evaluate contemporary healthcare issues from multiple perspectives and develop evidence-informed solutions that support improvements in patient care and service delivery.

By the end of the module, you will have developed the knowledge, critical thinking and professional judgement needed to respond confidently to the opportunities and challenges facing advanced practitioners in modern healthcare.
