Content Summary

From Officer to Director: Strategic Leadership in Safety

This module is designed to facilitate your transition from a technical specialist to a strategic leader. As the role of the safety professional expands, this 30-credit module provides the high-level expertise required to operate effectively at the board level and influence the future of your organisation.

Mastering Corporate Strategy

You will move beyond day-to-day operations to focus on the \\\"big picture\\\" of corporate governance, including:

  • ESG & Ethics: Integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance reporting into safety strategies and mastering ethical decision-making.

  • Crisis Management: Learning how to safeguard both people and corporate reputation in high-stakes, unpredictable environments.

  • Proactive Culture: Shifting away from traditional models that only look at what went wrong, you will learn to build a safety culture that actively learns from success.

Executive Influence

A core focus of this module is developing the \\\"soft skills\\\" needed for executive-level impact. You will learn how to:

  • Engage Stakeholders: Navigate complex professional relationships and gain buy-in from diverse groups.

  • Drive Value: Pitch Safety, Health, and Environmental Management initiatives as essential value-drivers rather than just operational costs.

Your Professional Maturity

By combining leadership theory with practical change management, you will graduate with the professional maturity and ethical rigour needed to lead safety at the highest levels of corporate governance.
