Module Aims

  • To identify and showcase the nature and extent of professional development accumulated through studying History and identify any gaps between learners’ work-related practice and disciplinary expectations.

  • To reflect upon the way the learner’s work experiences or role has contributed to their professional practice and use this to plan and implement future academic, professional and personal development.

  • To build a CV and social media profile that can be developed for the graduate employment market.

Content Summary

This module helps to prepare you for a graduate career or postgraduate study through showcasing the transferable skills nurtured through the degree programme, developing a professional identity (in person, in writing and on social media) and building a CV.  This will be achieved through a live project carried out as a work placement or as a live project in conjunction with an industry partner, and an exercise in self-directed project management to formulate a proposal for a research project.  Through a placement or participation on a live project, you’ll apply the transferable skills developed on the degree programme and greatly enhance your employability skills.? With the help of the specialist USW Careers advisers, the taught content of the module focuses on graduate career-readiness, whether directly related to history or not.
