Module Aims

  1. Enable students to realise their design concepts through advanced prototyping, sampling and iterative product development.

  1. Develop students’ ability to make market driven technically and ethically informed decisions across materials, construction and production processes.

  1. Support students to manage complex critical paths and design workflows, reflecting professional standards and constraints.

Content Summary

As the second of four modules in the final year. This module focuses on the translation of concept into product through pushing your technical skill and asking you to experiment, play and extend your learning to meet your market needs. Building on the research and design propositions established throughout the course, students will choose a collaborative partner to work with to realise concepts through physical, digital or hybrid outcomes, selecting processes and technologies appropriate to their individual projects. This will result on a body of finished products applicable to their defined industry.

The module emphasises professional decision-making, encouraging students to critically evaluate materials, construction methods, digital tools and production strategies in relation to feasibility, market level, cost, viability, consumer need, sustainability and intended user experience. Students will manage complex workflows, balancing creative ambition with practical and ethical considerations reflective of contemporary fashion practice.

Experimentation and refinement are central to the module, with collaboration, documentation and evaluation central to the product development process, demonstrating technical competence and critical awareness. Final Fit supports students in consolidating their technical skills while retaining creative freedom, ensuring that outcomes are industry informed, purposeful and professionally resolved.

This module prepares students to present robust, well-considered design work suitable for industry engagement and collaboration.
