Module Aims

The main aims of the module are:

  • Aim 1: To apply and analyse professional practice across diverse educational contexts through critical engagement with theory, policy, and practice.

  • Aim 2: To extend reflective and analytical skills by connecting academic knowledge with real-world experiences in education.

  • Aim 3: To develop digital fluency and creative communication skills that demonstrate professional identity, ethical awareness, and readiness for employment or further study.

Content Summary

This module provides you with the opportunity to apply your learning within authentic educational and community settings while developing your identity as a reflective, creative, and socially responsible professional. Building on the knowledge, skills, and critical understanding developed throughout Levels 4 and 5, you will deepen your awareness of the complexities, opportunities, and responsibilities involved in working within diverse educational contexts.

Through placement-based and experiential learning, you will observe, analyse, and critically reflect on professional practice, making meaningful connections between educational theory, policy, research, and real-world experience. You will explore how the Curriculum for Wales and inclusive practice, wellbeing approaches, safeguarding responsibilities, and wider educational policy influence teaching, learning, communication, and support across different settings and communities.

Using challenge-based activities and inquiry, you will critically evaluate contemporary educational practice and consider how educators can respond ethically and creatively to the needs of learners and communities.

As a key transitional module between Levels 5 and 6, this module supports the development of professional confidence, reflective practice, research-informed thinking, and employability, preparing you for independent inquiry and leadership within your final year and future professional roles.
