Module Aims

  • Aim 1: To develop understanding of clinical diagnostic procedures and their application in practice.

  • Aim 2: To explore healthcare systems and policies and their impact on patient care.

  • Aim 3: To support the integration of clinical skills, knowledge, and professional awareness through practice-based learning.

Content Summary

This module introduces you to key clinical diagnostic procedures and healthcare practices used within healthcare environments, enabling you to pursue careers in a clinical field.

You will develop an understanding of how diagnostic techniques support patient assessment, decision-making, and ongoing care.

You will become proficient in taking systematic patient medical histories and clinical examinations, applying your theoretical and clinical knowledge to making informed diagnoses and decisions.

The module also explores how healthcare systems and policies shape clinical practice, influencing the delivery of patient-centred care across different settings.

By linking theory to your clinical placement experiences, you will gain insight into how diagnostic processes and organisational structures impact real-world healthcare.

You will be encouraged to reflect on your role within the wider healthcare system, considering both practical skills and the broader context in which care is delivered.

This module aims to build your confidence and competence in clinical environments, preparing you for safe, effective, and informed professional practice.
