Module Aims

To consolidate and develop knowledge of the events sector introduced across modules at Level 4 and 5.

To expose students to the essentials of professional event planning processes.

To allow students to engage with the principles of event planning in preparation for implementation/delivery of a ‘live’ event.

Content Summary

Applied event planning using the concept of the reflective practitioner to include:
• Creating an event plan in response to an ‘event brief’ supplied by SWBS as commissioning client.
• Assessing market demand for events
• Event conceptualisation practice
• Event feasibility
• The event screening process (marketing, operations, financial)
• The event pitch
• Documentation of processes event planning to include:
o venue choice
o marketing,
o budget planning
o addressing legal and regulatory issues
o negotiating with suppliers and stakeholders
o developing the event team including volunteers
• Making the ‘pitch’
• Review and evaluation of the planning process
