Module Aims

To enable students to understand, explore and critically evaluate the importance of the therapeutic relationship in music therapy as an agent of change for a range of client groups.

Content Summary

Theories relating to the development and maintenance of the therapeutic relationship will be presented in the arts therapies and music therapy specifically.

Students will critically evaluate these theories, exploring literature using case studies and a range of music therapy models.

Practical aspects of music therapy skills and techniques will also form part of this module.
