Module Aims
The aim of this module is to enable students, to develop advanced health assessment knowledge and skills to underpin current practice roles. This module is patient focused and explores the underpinning evidence base for assessment and monitoring techniques utilised to prioritise patient care delivery. The module aims to develop advanced patient assessments that include formulating a diagnosis and performing investigations, as a precursor for clinical decision-making and management.

An exploration of treatment, management and decision making that informs critical care.
Utilising outcomes of advanced health assessment, including the selection, interpretation and application of investigations, to underpin clinical decision-making as the basis for prioritising patient care and management across the lifespan.
Decision-making and diagnostic thinking. Managing difficult decisions, dealing with ambiguity and conflicting information for patients.
An exploration of the current evidence base surrounding critical illness.
Current developments in critical care - Treatment and management such as prone positioning, non-invasive ventilations (NIV) and other similar recent developments in this specialist area
