Educational Aim

To develop an in-depth understanding of the development and learning needs of children and young people.

To critically evaluate impact of learning, development and curriculum in practice and explore within their own educational context.

To produce rational arguments and draw independent conclusions using theoretical analysis, practical activity and personal research at degree level.

To provide academic insights and understanding of children and young people from a range of perspectives including philosophies and beliefs.

To develop student understanding of skills and attributes including leadership/management, communication and problem solving.

Lectures, seminars, workshops, work based learning, external visits, directed study, independent study.

Employer Engagement

Students will either be employed or working within a voluntary capacity in a relevant setting.

Means of Assessment

Assignments: This type of assignment ensures the student demonstrates the ability for independent learning and research. The ability to critique practice and /or current professional issues and to evaluate evidence through debate and an opportunity to demonstrate reflection on contemporary issues.

Presentations: This will allow students to present research findings in an oral format and/or poster type presentation. Presentations facilitate the development of communication skills as well as the ability to present knowledge and understanding of a topic area in a concise manner.

Project: This will allow students to understand the process of change management. The project will enable students to critically evaluate and appraise theory and practice

Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) 360 credits of which at least 100 must be at Level 6 or above, 120 at Level 5 or above, 120 at Level 4 or above and no more than 20 at Level 3. Final

Level 5 Foundation Degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject area

Applicants will be invited for an information session and interview, which could include a written assessment and evidence of a relevant job/ placement

RPL where competency requirements are needed to meet professional standards
