Module Aims

To provide students with an understanding of how sociology and psychology can be integrated to provide an understanding of human behaviour within society.

Content Summary

The overall aim of the module is to introduce students to the concepts of sociology and psychology. This module's aim is to interweave concepts from sociology and psychology so that students gain a sound theoretical and practical understanding of the nature of psychological and social functioning. Students will learn about key issues such as;\r

•\tPerson perception;\r
•\tStereotyping and inequalities;\r
•\tGender and socialisation;\r
•\tDeviance and stigma;\r
•\t Stress and coping with illness;\r
•\tSocial support;\r
•\tSocial influences on health and well being( social class, gender, race)\r
