Module Aims

To facilitate in students the development of self-reflective skills and personal attributes to evidence growing self-awareness to support the wellbeing of self and clients.

To facilitate the knowledge and understanding needed to engage in supervised clinical client work to meet the requirements for BACP professional practice.

Content Summary

Personal Development:

Reflective models, techniques and skills.

Self-awareness, resilience techniques and self-monitoring.

Developing understanding of the interface between theory, client work and self-awareness to build and maintain safe and effective practice.

Professional Development:

The BACP Ethical Framework in practice.

Confidentiality & data protection, boundaries, record keeping and contracting with clients.

Working within an agency context to prepare for counselling placement.

Working with counselling supervision.

*In order to meet the Professional Practice criteria for the course it is a requirement that you attend and actively participate in at least 80% of all timetabled lectures, meetings and other learning activities arranged as part of this module.
