Module Aims

The main aims of the module are:

Reflect on professional competence and autonomy in delivering safe, ethical, and effective sports therapy services during supervised placement, aligned with the Society of Sports Therapists’ standards.

Enhance and reflect on students’ practical, clinical, and communication skills through hands-on experience in assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and acute care within real-world settings.

Prepare students for future careers in sports therapy by exploring career pathways, applying foundational business and professional skills, and developing a reflective career action plan to support employability and ongoing professional development.

Content Summary

This final Level 6 module consolidates your professional development through the completion and evaluation of your sports therapy placement. By the end of the module, you will have completed a minimum of 250 placement hours across Level 6, demonstrating competence across assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and acute care within real-world clinical environments. The focus is on refining clinical reasoning, applying advanced practical skills, and demonstrating safe, autonomous practice under supervision.

A strong emphasis is placed on professional communication with patients, supervisors, and multidisciplinary teams, alongside critical reflective practice to evaluate and evidence your development as a practitioner. In addition to consolidating clinical experience, the module supports your transition into graduate-level employment by exploring career pathways in sports therapy. You will critically reflect on placement experiences to inform career planning and develop a focused career action plan, incorporating continuing professional development, goal setting, and reflective practice.

Ethical, inclusive, and professional standards, aligned with the Society of Sports Therapists’ code of conduct, underpin all aspects of the module. By bringing together extensive placement experience, reflection, and career planning, this module supports your transition from student to graduate practitioner, preparing you for autonomous professional practice in sports therapy.
